It looks like the iconic comic book series ‘Preacher’ will find life on AMC as the show has been ordered to pilot by the cable network….
The iconic comic book series that ran from 1995 to 2000 titled ‘Preacher’ from writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon will officially become a TV show after being picked up for a pilot order from AMC.
The show is produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin.
‘Preacher’ focuses on a preacher named Jesse Custer, who becomes the most powerful man in the world after he is accidentally bonded with a mythical creature known as Genesis — an unholy force combining both an angel and a demon together. At the same time Genesis is born, God goes missing from Heaven and abandons his post as the creator of the universe. So Jesse along with his ex-girlfriend Tulip O’Hare and a hard drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy go on the hunt to look for God.
The show has been picked up previously with networks trying to find a way to make ‘Preacher’ work for television, but only now has the series been given a pilot order to see what the producers and writers can do with it.
If it gets picked up, ‘Preacher’ would join an already powerful comic book heavy lineup at AMC lead by ‘The Walking Dead’ as well as the new ‘Walking Dead’ spinoff show scheduled to debut in 2016.
Keep an eye out for more information about the ‘Preacher’ pilot including casting updates as more details emerge in the coming weeks.
