Quentin Tarantino has pulled off a major play for ‘The Hateful Eight’ with legendary composer Ennio Morricone set to create the score for his new movie due out on Dec. 25….
When you hear the name Ennio Morricone there are probably more than a few songs that come to mind. Or if for some reason you don’t know the name Ennio Morricone, you definitely know his work…. Or maybe this one… Morricone wrote some of the most famous scores of all time for films such as ‘A Fistful of Dollars’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’ but despite his work in a huge list of classic Western movies, the composer hasn’t written for that genre in decades…until now. Writer/director Quentin Tarantino announced at San Diego Comic Con this past weekend that Morricone would be writing a completely original score for his upcoming film ‘The Hateful Eight’ due out on Christmas Day.
“You guys know that normally don’t use an original score in my movies, I kind of take scores from other movies and put them in there,” Tarantino said. “This one I kind of thought maybe it should have an original score and so I’m here to announce that the great Ennio Morricone will not only be doing an original score for ‘The Hateful Eight’ that he’s writing right now that we’ll be recording in Prague in the next couple of weeks, but that will be his first western score in 40 years.”
Tarantino will sit with Morricone on the sessions as he writes and composes the music for the upcoming film, which will be released in approximately 100 theaters capable of showing his movie in a 70mm film format before the movie opens nationwide two weeks later. Keep an eye out for more soundtrack news as ‘The Hateful Eight’ gets closer to its release date on Dec. 25.
