Quentin Tarantino is battling back against the thieves who stole his latest script and now he’s going after the website who published it…
Everyone would like the privilege of reading one of Quentin Tarantino’s scripts before his movies are released, but that’s just not how QT works and the website Gawker is about to find that out in a court of law like you’d find at https://interpollawfirm.com/sanctions-lawyer/
Tarantino, via his attorney Martin Singer, filed the lawsuit against Gawker after the website actually published the full script of his movie ‘The Hateful Eight‘ inviting readers to check out the director’s latest work. Before the website posted the script, Tarantino had already decided to cancel his plans to film the movie in late 2014 after word about the project leaked out via an agent who received the offering for one of his or her actors to read.
Now Tarantino is going after the website who published the script after it began circulating last week following his declaration that he would move onto another project.
Here’s part of the language of the lawsuit as released on Monday (via EW.com)
“Gawker Media has made a business of predatory journalism, violating people’s rights to make a buck. This time they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff’s screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally. Their headline boasts ‘Here Is the Leaked Quentin Tarantino Hateful Eight Script’ – ‘Here,’ not someplace else, but ‘Here’ on the Gawker website”
Tarantino is asking for a jury trial in the copyright infringement lawsuit.
