Quentin Tarantino isn’t quite ready to make his final film but he has written an eight-episode TV series that he could start developing in 2023….
Quentin Tarantino is sticking to his guns that his 10th film will be the last of his career but that doesn’t mean he won’t stay busy writing and directing in other mediums.
In fact, the Oscar winning screenwriter revealed that his next major project may actually be a television series that he’s already written with the chance that the show could go into development sometime in 2023.
“I’ll let something out of the bag right now. I won’t say anything about what it is or whatever but I have written a TV show,” Tarantino told Tom Segura on his podcast.
“I’ve written eight episodes of a limited series. I’ve written all eight episodes, I’d direct all eight episodes. I need to do a polish on it but that might be what I start setting up next year.”
Now Tarantino has actually dabbled in television previously while directing and developing the story for a pair of “CSI” episodes as well as working on “ER” several years ago. But Tarantino has never gone as far as actually developing an original idea for television but it appears that might be the next major project on his calendar.
Tarantino didn’t want to reveal the genre or subject matter for the TV series but it’s safe to say his agent’s phone will be ringing with every major network and streaming service champing at the bit to land the show once he’s ready to get into production.
As of now, Tarantino says only his agents and a few people close to him have actually read through the episodes but he appears ready to take the show into a more serious direction starting next year.
Right now, Tarantino is knee deep in a promotion tour for his new book “Cinema Speculation” where he does a deep dive on films that have impacted him as a person and filmmaker. That book came after Tarantino received rave reviews for his novelization of “Once Upon a Time … In Hollywood,” which told a complete story around his Academy Award nominated film from 2019.
