It looks like Oscar winner Brie Larson is circling the starring role in Captain Marvel….
Brie Larson — who just won the 2015 Academy Award for her role in Room — is in early talks to land the starring role in the Captain Marvel movie, which will be the first female led project from the superhero studio.
According to Variety, Larson is the first choice for Marvel to play the role and she’s apparently leaning towards taking the part, which would see her lead the Captain Marvel solo project.
In the film version, Captain Marvel will be Carol Danvers — a former Air Force pilot who eventually became embroiled in a conflict with the Kree empire before falling into a damaged Kree Psyche-Magnitron, which transformed her into a half-Kree superhuman who would later become Captain Marvel.
No deal has been done as of yet, but it looks like Larson is the leading candidate to land the coveted role. Inside Out writers Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are in charge of the script but no director is attached to the project yet.
Captain Marvel is due out on March 8, 2019.
