Han Solo won’t be running solo in the new upcoming movie with casting directors looking for a young Lando Calrissian to join the film…
Long before Han Solo was a general in the rebel army, he was a smuggler and a gambler, who ran in some pretty notorious circles surrounded by some very nefarious friends.
One of them just happened to be future owner of Cloud City, Lando Calrissian — and it looks like he’ll be spending time with his old buddy Han in the upcoming ‘Han Solo’ Star Wars spinoff from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
According to The Wrap, casting is underway to find an actor to play Lando Calrissian in the movie — a part that was originated by Billy Dee Williams in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ as well as ‘Return of the Jedi’.
Rumors have already surfaced that Donald Glover is an early choice to potentially land the role, although there has been no official confirmation from Lucasfilm or the directors behind the ‘Han Solo’ movie. Alden Ehrenreich has already been cast as the young Han Solo for the project.
Lando was a long time friend and gambling partner to Solo before he linked up with the rebellion in ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’. He just so happened to lose the Millennium Falcon to him during a card game and the two smugglers had a long history together before they ran into each other again on Cloud City during ‘The Empire Strikes Back’.
What Lando’s role might be in the ‘Han Solo’ stand alone movie is unknown, but it looks like another familiar face from the ‘Star Wars’ universe will show up alongside Han and Chewbacca.
The ‘Han Solo’ spinoff is due out on May 25, 2018.
