Several months ago Joaquin Phoenix was a rumored front runner to play Lex Luthor. Now he’s on the Marvel wish list to play Doctor Strange….
Academy Award nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix is the leading candidate to land the coveted spot to play ‘Doctor Strange’ in the upcoming Marvel film. While Phoenix has not officially accepted the part, the actor has been sought after by Marvel and leads their wish list for who they’d like to play the mystical magic man in the movie.
Prior to Jesse Eisenberg being cast to play Lex Luthor in the new ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film, it was Phoenix’s name at the top of the wish list for DC and Warner Bros to land the part of Superman’s ultimate nemisis.
Now it seems like Phoenix has landed on Marvel’s radar to land the part in the film adaptation of ‘Doctor Strange’, which will be helmed by director Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Deliver Us From Evil).
No deal is in place and this could all fall apart in a matter of hours, but for now Phoenix seems to be the man for the job to play Stephen Strange in the movie from Marvel expected to land in theaters in 2016.
