What started out as a sequel to Man of Steel now appears to be morphing very quickly into a full blown Justice League prequel as an actor has now been cast to play Cyborg in the upcoming movie Batman vs. Superman…
Leave it to DC Comics and Warner Bros to try and fast track a movie to attempt to catch up to the Marvel Universe as they have now added Ray Fisher to the cast of ‘Batman vs. Superman’ to play the role of Victor Stone aka Cyborg — one of the key members of the Justice League.
According to Variety, Fisher was one of several actors tested by Warner Bros. over the past few weeks and ultimately they chose him to play the role for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel that will shoot primarily in Detroit.
Fisher has primarily been a theater actor playing roles like famed boxer Muhammad Ali in the play “Fetch Clay, Make Man”. Now it appears he’ll make the jump to film with a starring role in the upcoming ‘Batman vs. Superman’ feature.
The movie started out as a Man of Steel sequel teasing a confrontation with Batman after the film was first revealed at San Diego Comic Con in 2013. From there, director Zack Snyder added several other pieces to the puzzle including Ben Affleck, who will play Batman, Jesse Eisenberg, who will play Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman.
Now with the addition of Fisher playing Cyborg, the movie is just an Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern away from a full blown Justice League film. There’s no slow and steady approach for DC like there was with Marvel as they quietly built piece after piece until they decided to do The Avengers. Instead it appears DC will jam as much into one movie as possible and then try to do a Justice League movie following the release of ‘Batman vs. Superman’ on May 6, 2016.
