The Han Solo spinoff film has landed Academy Award winning director Ron Howard….
Ron Howard — best known for his work on films such as ‘Apollo 13’, ‘The DaVinci Code’ and winning an Academy Award for his work on ‘A Beautiful Mind’ — has officially taken over as the director on the untitled Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ spinoff film.
Earlier this week, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were removed from the project after disagreements with the studio about the direction and tone of the film, which follows a young Han Solo during his early days long before meeting Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Mos Eisley cantina.
Now Howard will take over direction on the film with shooting scheduled to resume on July 10.

We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie.”
The Han Solo film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo with co-stars including Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson.
