Ruby Rose abruptly abandoned her role on “Batwoman” and now a new report states that the actress and the studio were definitely ready for a break…
Ruby Rose wanted off “Batwoman’ and the studio was ready to see her leave.
That’s according to a new report from TV Line that details the recent news that Rose exited the popular CW series ahead of the second season of the show that is expected to begin filming later this year.
While it was initially painted that Rose made the decision on her own, Warner Bros. was apparently on board with the move following a tumultuous working relationship with the actress during the first season of the show.
“It wasn’t 100-percent her decision,” a source told TV Line. “It was a breakup. She wasn’t happy working on the show, and did that make her fun to work with? No. So everyone decided it would be in the best interests of the show, and for all concerned, if they parted ways. It just wasn’t a good fit.”
“Batwoman” was Rose’s first full time acting gig on television after she made a guest appearance on the Netflix show “Orange is the New Black.” According to sources, Rose did not enjoy the long hours required to film an action series like “Batwoman” and she never adjusted to living in Vancouver where the show is filmed.
That led to a stressful production during the first season of filming on “Batwoman.”
Add to that, Rose reportedly suffered an injury during filming that left her in “chronic pain” after herniating two discs in her back while stating that she came close to severing her spinal cord, although separate reports say that her health played no part in the split.
With Rose out of the role, Warner Bros. and the CW will begin casting for a new actress to take over playing Kate Kane after “Batwoman” was already renewed for a second season back in January.
