It appears after months of rumors that Elizabeth Olsen has captured the role of The Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron
While rumors are always circulating about casting for any number of Marvel films, it seems at least one of their current stars just confirmed one role that has definitely been handed out.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal about his cameo role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Samuel L. Jackson let the cat out of the bag with the news about the latest role in The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron now being filled.
The role of The Scarlet Witch will be played by Elizabeth Olsen, which was first rumored a few months back after she had tested for the part.
“I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year,” Jackson said of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the next film to begin shooting in the Marvel universe. ”I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”
Olsen will also have parts in two big upcoming features including Spike Lee’s version of Oldboy as well as the latest Godzilla film set to be released in 2014.
The role of The Scarlet Witch could be a major addition to The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron depending on which storyline director and writer Joss Whedon tries to employ. She has been a major character in The Avengers comics as well as the X-Men over the years.
Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is expected to begin filming in the first quarter 2014 with a 2015 release date for the movie.
