Sarah Michelle Gellar will never forget her iconic role as Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer….
It’s hard to imagine that it’s been 19 years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer first debuted on television, but Sarah Michelle Gellar certainly remembered arguably her most iconic role.
Gellar released a tribute on her Instagram account on Thursday celebrating the show’s debut anniversary while giving her appreciation for all the fans who have stuck by her side since the series first came on the air.
“19 years ago tonight, I got to introduce you to Buffy Anne Summers (and Mr. Pointy too),” Gellar wrote. “Thank you for taking the incredible journey with me and continuing still. I am and forever will be grateful”
As Gellar celebrates the 19th anniversary as Buffy, we can’t help but hold out hope that there’s still a chance to one day get that long awaited Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. Chances are it will never happen but who thought there would be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer show after the original movie starting Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry came out?
If you want to catch Gellar in her next project, she’s currently filming her role in the upcoming Cruel Intentions TV series that is a spinoff of the original 1999 film of the same name.
