The cast for ‘Shazam!’ is coming together with the role of Billy Batson now cast…
Asher Angel — best known for his role on the Disney Channel show ‘Andi Mack’ — has been cast as Billy Batson in the upcoming ‘Shazam!’ movie from New Line.
The film follows the story of a boy named Billy Batson, who is gifted superpowers whenever he speaks the word ‘Shazam!’ — which is an acronym for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury — and he transforms into an adult hero with abilities on par with Superman.
When Batson transforms into Shazam, he will be played by ‘Chuck’ actor Zachary Levi.
David F. Sandberg (Annabelle Creation) is directing the new ‘Shazam!’ movie and he also confirmed the news via his Instagram account this week.
Production on ‘Shazam!’ is expected to kick off in early 2018 with additional roles for the film still being cast. There’s still no word for certain if Dwayne Johnson may make an appearance in the film after he was cast as Shazam’s ultimate nemesis Black Adam. There have been rumors swirling that perhaps Johnson will make his first appearance as Black Adam in ‘Suicide Squad 2’ but that still hasn’t been confirmed yet.
