When ‘The Defenders’ get together next year, Sigourney Weaver will be the villain going up against them….
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will have a formidable villain when they finally team up together.
Sigourney Weaver — the Oscar nominated actress known from the ‘Alien’ films as well as ‘Ghostbusters’ and numerous other films — has been cast as the main villain in the upcoming Marvel series ‘The Defenders’.
Weaver joined Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) in the final moments of Marvel’s television panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday to make the announcement.
“Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said on Saturday.
Weaver has been rumored to join the Marvel Universe after making recent comments that she had been watching some of the movies just recently and now it’s confirmed that she will play a major role in the upcoming TV series.
There’s no word on who Weaver will play but she will be the featured villain opposing the four superheroes as they team up together for a mega-event series headed to Netflix in 2017.
