There was talk about an extended final season for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ but as it turns out the show will end in just 13 more episodes…
Season 7 of Sons of Anarchy will bring the show to an end as creator Kurt Sutter finishes his ‘Hamlet on Harleys’ tale with the launch date for the final year likely happening in September 2014.
Throughout the six season history of Sons of Anarchy, each year has yielded 13 total episodes over the course of the season with several being extended to 75, 90 or even 120 minutes as was the case with last season’s finale.
There was talk towards the tail end of season 6, however, that FX may extend the final season to somewhere around 16 episodes. As it turns out according to show creator Kurt Sutter that Sons of Anarchy, sadly, will end in just 13 more episodes.
Sutter answered our own creator Damon Martin’s question via Twitter confirming the news:

Now just because there are only 13 episodes left doesn’t mean that the show won’t do several extended episodes again with the final season. FX has routinely allowed Sons of Anarchy to run extended episodes. Almost every episode for season 6 was extended by at least 15 minutes so there’s no reason to believe that they won’t do the same for the final year.
