The debut of Sons of Anarchy season 6 is still a few weeks away, but there’s lots of news and tidbits coming out of Charming.
First and foremost is the release date for the new Sons of Anarchy comic book, which will hit stores on September 11 just one day after the debut of the new season airs on FX.
The book, which Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter had a hand in creating every step of the way, will run parallel to the actual TV show, but he teases in the newest WTF Sutter (that you can view at the bottom of the page) that the two may crossover at some point during the year.
The new Sons of Anarchy comic will be written by Christopher Golden (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) with illustrations by Damien Couceiro (Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm) and will be released through BOOM! Studios.
The six-issue series will also come with special art made for the covers that once the run is over, can be combined to mimic the original trailer for the new season of Sons of Anarchy.
The story for the new comic book will involve Sons favorite Tig Trager as described below:
With no one else to turn to, the daughter of an old SAMCRO member comes to Charming looking for help. The only people standing between Kendra and certain death are the Sons of Anarchy, and, for better or for worse,Tig.
Sons of Anarchy the comic book will be released on September 11 and here’s some additional art from the series:
Clay Morrow with a Daughter?
Our next piece of Sons of Anarchy news comes directly from the head of SAMCRO himself—no not Jax Teller, but Kurt Sutter!
Sutter’s weekly video series titled WTF Sutter gives you an insight into the filming of the show, what’s coming up next, contests he’s running as well as answering fan questions. There are always a few juicy pieces of information in these videos (subscribe on YouTube) and this week there was an interesting tidbit about how Sons of Anarchy was originally envisioned.
By now, everybody knows that Sutter pattered Sons of Anarchy loosely on the William Shakespeare tragedy Hamlet, but he originally planned for more similarities than what we ended up with on television.
According to Sutter, he originally wanted Clay to have a stepdaughter on the show that would secretly be in love with Jax. He eventually dropped the idea, and re-introduced a bit of it during season 3 when Jax met his stepsister Trinity in Ireland.
As of now, however, Sutter has no plans of working any other relatives of Clay’s into the show, and the only time family members have been brought in when it organically made sense in the script.
Talking Sons Coming This Season
Following the popularity of such AMC shows like Talking Dead (The Walking Dead) and Talking Bad (Breaking Bad), Sons of Anarchy will have a special post show this season for at least three episodes.
Sutter revealed during this week’s WTF Sutter that a post show will air following the season premiere on September 10, the season finale and at least one other episode during the season.
They are still working to confirm a host for the show (please no more Chris Hardwick), but once they nail that down FX will release all of the information for the upcoming Sons of Anarchy post show.
