Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is coming to your house.
Well in theory it could be your house because Sutter stated before the season debut of his outlaw biker drama that if the ratings came back and they topped the previous year’s debut episode that he would fly out to one lucky fan’s house along with a cast member to watch an episode of Sons of Anarchy this season.
It looks like Sutter can pack his bags because not only did Sons of Anarchy beat last year’s totals, but it appears the episode will end up being the most watched episode of any TV show in FX history.
The ratings for Sons of Anarchy’s debut totaled out at an average of 5.87 million viewers over the 90-minute episode that ended with much publicized school shooting.
The 5.87 million viewers is up from last season’s debut, which drew in 5.37 million viewers ending in a 9-percent increase overall.
In addition to the huge opening numbers when added with the re-broadcast that aired from 11:30pm until 1am the show ended up with 8.09 million viewers. The show also raked in 3.94 million viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic as well.
Overall the show won the night in terms of males 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 as well as women in the 18-34 and 18-49 demographics as well.
Once the show receives the final numbers from DVR recordings as well as the estimations from the live broadcast plus seven day totals the initial broadcast, Sons of Anarchy’s season 6 debut is expected to shatter the record for the most watched program in FX Network history.
Episode 2 of Sons of Anarchy titled “One-One-Six” will debut next Tuesday night at 10pm ET.
