Over the course of the past five seasons of Sons of Anarchy, Jax Teller and the crew have faced a veritable rogue’s gallery of bad guys all gunning to take the motorcycle club down.
Whether it was an agent of the law like June Stahl, who would literally use any means necessary to further her career, or a ruthless gangster named Damon Pope pulling strings from afar and ordering members killed while wearing custom made suits, the Sons of Anarchy have faced a gambit of enemies.
As season six begins to fuel up for the September 10 debut date, the promos for the show have heavily teased that former U.S. Marshall Lee Toric (Donal Logue) will be a major thorn in the side of SAMCRO this season, but he’s not the only enemy the club has to worry about this year.
While Toric is working in the prison system to try and turn Clay Morrow against his former club, another old adversary is going to rear his ugly head this year and plans to go toe-to-toe with Jax and his crew.
According to Sons of Anarchy lead actor Charlie Hunnam, who spoke to Nerdcore Movement ahead of the season premiere, Jax doesn’t personally run into Toric much this season, but a past foe from Ireland will come back to haunt him in a big way.
“I don’t want to give too much away, but unfortunately I didn’t get to work with (Donal Logue) very much. So it’s more Timothy Murphy who plays Galen of the new IRA that I have most of my problems with,” Hunnam revealed.
Galen O’Shay (Timothy Murphy) is no fan of Jax, and still blames him for the death of Father Kellan Ashby back in Ireland. Beyond those harsh feelings, Galen has always believed Jax was impulsive and made bad decisions, and that was compounded last season when members of the Galindo cartel killed some of Galen’s men during a gun deal.
Galen promised that blood would be shed both in America and back in Ireland, and he’s coming back for vengeance this season according to Hunnam.
“The IRA are alive and well,” Hunnam said.
During one of the season six promos, Jax is heard saying that SAMCRO is getting out of the gun business, so will that precipitate Galen’s revenge or is he already gunning for the president?
Also, don’t forget that Jax and the boys will also be working on a continued relationship with August Marks, who was Damon Pope’s second in charge and now the man running things with his friend being gunned down in the season five finale.
It appears from all the early signs for season six of Sons of Anarchy that Jax and his crew will be taking fire from all sides, and things are probably going to get bloody.
