‘Sons of Anarchy’ will ride again with a new spinoff ‘Mayans MC’ ordered to pilot at FX…
Gentlemen, start your engines because ‘Sons of Anarchy’ will ride again.
‘Mayans MC’ — the spinoff for the hugely popular outlaw biker drama — has been ordered to pilot at FX with show creator Kurt Sutter set to direct the debut episode.
Production for the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff will begin in March with Sutter and Elgin James serving as executive producers on the new series. As of now, FX has given a pilot order but if all goes well with the initial episode, it’s likely the show will get picked up to series, especially considering the huge success of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ for the network.
‘Mayans MC’ will pick up in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death and focus on a young prospect, EZ Reyes, in the Mayans’ chapter along the California/Mexico border. The Mayans were a major part of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ over seven seasons first acting as a major antagonist for the club before eventually settling old grudges in the latter half of the show.
There’s no word yet if past ‘Sons of Anarchy’ cast member will appear in ‘Mayans MC’ but given the close ties between the two clubs in the show, it’s likely Sutter will pull in a few old friends to help launch the new series.
With production beginning in March, it’s likely that if FX picks up the series it could debut as early as fall 2017.
