Theo Rossi has inked a deal to play a villain on the upcoming Netflix and Marvel series Luke Cage….
For seven seasons, Theo Rossi portrayed Juan Carlos ‘Juice’ Ortiz on the popular FX series Sons of Anarchy, but now he’s putting his Harley and his leather cut away in favor of a new role working inside the Marvel universe.
Rossi has signed on to star in the upcoming Netflix series Marvel’s Luke Cage.
Rossi will be playing ‘Shades’ aka Alvarez who is described as a criminal who is “as relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling”.
In the comic book universe, Shades is the father of Victor Alvarez — who later becomes a superhero named Power Man.
It’s unknown right now what Shades role will be in Luke Cage, but chances are he’s going up against the ‘Hero for Hire’ along with Alfre Woodard, who has been cast as Black Mariah for the first season as well.
Luke Cage is based on the Marvel character who is wrongfully imprisoned but gains his power through a sabotaged experiment and once he escapes, he starts his own superhero for hire business. Mike Colter has already been cast as Luke Cage and he’s expected to make his first appearance in the Marvel Universe as part of the upcoming series Jessica Jones, which debuts later this year on Netflix.
