The author of the Harry Potter novels admits in hindsight that the pairing of Ron Weasley with Hermione Granger was a mistake….
Harry Potter may have been the star of the series of books written by JK Rowling, but that doesn’t mean he was supposed to land with the main girl…or does it?
JK Rowling recently spoke to Wonderland where the interview was conducted by actress Emma Watson, who portrayed Granger in the Harry Potter film series, and she says in hindsight, paring her with Ron Weasley was probably a mistake.
“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment,” Rowling said. “That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”
Rowling goes on further to apologize to all the loyal Harry Potter fans out there that may have been a fan of the pairing of Hermione with Ron, but ultimately if she had a chance to do it all over again Harry himself would have gotten the girl.
“I know, I’m sorry. I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not,” Rowling said.
So there you have it — Harry should have ended up with Hermione and Ron gets entangled in a nasty love triangle with Neville and Luna. Okay, Rowling didn’t say that but we embellished.
