14-year old Michael Barbieri has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming….
Michael Barbieri — best known for his role in Little Men as well as the upcoming film Stephen King’s The Dark Tower — has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
According to Heroic Hollywood, the 14-year old newcomer has joined the cast that already includes Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Marisa Tomei, who plays Aunt May.
A separate report from ComicBook.com says that Barbieri will be a new character in the upcoming film, but he’s based on someone from the Ultimate Spider-Man universe.
“Barbieri’s character will be a new one, though he’ll be based off the Ultimate Spider-Man character Ganke. In that comicbook from Marvel Comics, Ganke is the trusted best friend of the other Spider-Man, Miles Morales. His affinity for Superheroes and unwavering optimism and support of his friend are his standout characteristics, which can be expected to be found in Barbieri’s new character.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first joint venture between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios as they share the character now and look to relaunch the franchise when the movie comes out on July 7, 2017.
