Sofia Boutella — best known for her work in the recent comic book adaptation film ‘Kingsmen: The Secret Service — has landed one of the lead roles in ‘Star Trek 3’ from director Justin Lin with the story by co-star Simon Pegg and Doug Jang.
There’s very little known about ‘Star Trek 3’ from a story standpoint so it’s impossible to know who Boutella will play in the upcoming movie that’s expected to open on July 8, 2016.
Lin is taking over from original director J.J. Abrams, who left the series to begin work on ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’ while handing this franchise over to a new team. Abrams production studio, Bad Robot, is still overseeing the ‘Star Trek’ franchise.
