When it comes to iconic characters of science fiction and fantasy, Star Trek’s Mr. Spock may sit near the top of the list and his portrayer, Leonard Nimoy, has become a fan favorite ever since the show debuted in 1966.
Nimoy — 83 — passed away on Friday after battling a case of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease according to his wife, who told the news to the New York Times.
Nimoy starred in dozens of different iterations of ‘Star Trek’ over the years from the original series all the way to J.J. Abrams two recent remakes. Nimoy also had starring roles in series such as ‘Fringe’ as well as guest spots as recently as 2014 on comedy hit ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
When he wasn’t in front of the camera, Nimoy was a huge lover of photography, singing, and poetry.
He is survived by his wife Susan.
