The actors and actresses in Stranger Things will all enjoy a massive bump in pay before season 3 gets into production in April…
The global success of Stranger Things has led to the cast renegotiating their contracts with a massive pay increase.
With production on the third season of the hugely popular Netflix series reportedly set to kick off on April 23, the cast has all renegotiated their deals with salaries expected to be somewhere around 12 times as much as what they were making for the first two seasons.
The actors and actresses were broken down into three tiers according to a report from the Hollywood Reporter
$350,000 per episode — David Harbour and Winona Ryder as the more established actors on the series get the biggest paydays as well.
$250,000 per episode — Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and Noah Schnapp (Will) will all cash in with the second tier of payouts on the series.
$150,000 per episode — Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan) and Joe Keery (Steve) fit into the third tier of the new pay structure for Stranger Things.
Now the one unknown in this whole equation is breakout star Millie Bobby Brown, who reportedly handled her negotiations separately from the rest of the cast. While no one seems to know the exact figures for her new salary, several reports speculated that she’ll be making more than the rest of her child co-stars but less than David Harbour and Winona Ryder.
Prior to this renegotiation, the child stars of the series were reportedly making around $20,000 an episode while Ryder was the highest paid at $100,000 per episode with Harbour making around $80,000 per episode. Now all of them are going to be getting a big pay bump ahead of the third season of Stranger Things.
Stranger Things has been a star making vehicle for most of the young actors on the show including Brown, who has landed several modeling gigs as well as a role in the upcoming feature Godzilla: King of Monsters. Meanwhile, Wolfhard has been cast in a couple of big roles including the horror franchise It as well as an upcoming part in The Goldfinch opposite Nicole Kidman.
Of course, Stranger Things has become one of the most popular series on Netflix since first debuting and the streaming service certainly wants to keep everybody happy considering this is a home grown show since the first day it landed there.
Stranger Things season 3 will kick off production on April 23 but there’s no timeline for when the show will debut on Netflix.
