Weeks of speculation can finally end as DC and Warner Bros. have officially announced the cast of ‘The Suicide Squad’ including Will Smith, Jared Leto and Tom Hardy…
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have put together an all-star list for the upcoming film ‘The Suicide Squad’, focusing on a group of super villains all given a second chance at redemption by the government while being sent on a mission that will likely end in their own deaths — thus a Suicide Squad.
The casting news released on Tuesday confirms this will be a very ambitious project for Warner Bros. considering the star power being packed into this single film.
Will Smith will play Deadshot — a hired assassin and often times enemy to Batman
Tom Hardy will play Rick Flagg — an original member of the Suicide Squad, expert in armed and unarmed combat
Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn — a psychopathic sidekick of The Joker
Jared Leto will play The Joker — the clown prince of crime. This will also be Leto’s first role since winning an Oscar for his part in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and he’s the first actor to play the iconic character since Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his portrayal of The Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’.
Jai Courtney will play Boomerang — traditionally a villain of The Flash, also known as Captain Boomerang in the comics. Take a guess what his weapon of choice is?
Cara Delevinge will play Enchantress — a powerful sorceress.
The only major role left to cast is Amanda Waller, who helps to assemble the team in the first place offering amnesty to the criminals who will make up ‘The Suicide Squad’.
Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer with an August 5, 2016 release date expected for the film.
