In the latest ‘Supergirl’ recap, Mon-El’s true identity is revealed and Winn finds out his relationship with Lyra isn’t exactly what he expected…

One of the biggest rumors all season long on ‘Supergirl’ was finally confirmed during Monday’s episode as Mon-El was revealed as the true prince of Daxam.
It was all unveiled after Mon-El’s parents arrived in a mysterious ship — not of Daxamite origin — demanding the Earthlings to return their son.
If you remember when Mon-El first showed up on Earth he told Kara and the others that he was the main guard for the prince of Daxam, who was a self-absorbed narcissist who probably didn’t deserve rescuing in the first place. It turns out, Mon-El was describing himself because he was a much different person when growing up on his home world and after meeting his parents it’s easy to understand why.
The other story this week involved Winn’s rather complicated relationship with his new girlfriend Lyra, who much like Mon-El, has been lying to her significant other for weeks except she had a criminal agenda in mind with her secrecy.
And finally in the waning moments of the episode, Kara encounters a strange new villain known as the Music Meister, who will play a much larger part in Tuesday night’s episode of ‘The Flash’.
With that said, let’s recap the latest episode of ‘Supergirl’ titled ‘Star-Crossed’…
Homecoming
Following her exit from Cat Co. Kara has been spending all of her free time with Mon-El while also catching up on all of her favorite shows — including a subtle nod to ‘Game of Thrones’ — and it’s lessened the heartache from losing her job.
As much as Kara would like to continue her ice cream indulgence with Mon-El, the two of them are soon called away when a mysterious ship lands in Earth’s orbit and issues an ominous threat over the airwaves. The voice tells everybody on Earth to release Mon-El from captivity or there will be severe consequences.
Back at the DEO, Mon-El doesn’t recognize the ship and there’s no record where this vessel came from so Supergirl decides to take a trip into space to find out exactly what it is they’re after.
When Supergirl approaches the ship, she has to immediately start dodging missiles and obstacles thrown her way. While she does a good job avoiding danger, Mon-El finally puts a stop to it by shouting that he will surrender himself to the people on board the ship so long as they stop attacking Supergirl.
Mon-El explains that he doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt due to the invaders trying to seek him out so he will surrender himself to them to find out exactly what they want. Just when Mon-El is transported to the ship, Supergirl runs to hold him and they are zapped away together.
When they reappear on the ship. Mon-El and Kara are greeted by a group of hooded soldiers, who all immediately bow down to him. A moment later, Mon-El comes face to face with Queen Rhea and King Lar Gand of Daxam, who also just so happen to be his parents.
Surprise, Kara — you’re dating the prince of Daxam!
Rhea invites Kara to stay on board for dinner, which reaches all new levels of uncomfortable for everybody involved. While Rhea takes not so subtle jabs at Krypton and its people, Kara has daggers for eyes when staring back at Mon-El, who has been lying to her for months about his true identity.
Finally the conversation gets to be too much and Kara requests to return home and Mon-El asks to go with her. Of course, Mon-El knows he’s got plenty of explaining to do now.
Night at the Museum
Winn’s love affair with Lyra is not only keeping him out of work, but it’s also putting him in a National City museum afterhours when his lady love lust insists on some steamy sex in between the priceless pieces of art. So Winn breaks into the museum and the two of them do the horizontal dance much to his delight.
Sadly the next day, Winn is called into the police station by Maggie because a priceless Vincent Van Gogh painting was stolen the previous night and he’s the prime suspect. It turns out, Lyra’s particular alien race can’t be seen on camera so security footage only shows Winn in the museum by himself before, during and after the painting goes missing.
In other words, he got screwed after getting screwed.
To make matters words, Lyra’s phone has been disconnected and now Winn knows he’s been played. Alex and James go to bat for Winn and ask for 24-hours to clear his name. Maggie agrees but the clock is ticking to find Lyra and get the proof she was behind the art theft.
After interrogating a bar patron at the alien hangout where Winn met Lyra, they find out that she stays in a trailer park with those from her same race. Winn arrives and confronts her but she claims that he was only ever a mark and she’s been playing him from day one. It turns out there have been other high profile art thefts in recent months with the men arrested for the crimes later saying that their girlfriend was the culprit but nothing could be found on the security footage.
Lyra’s confession is enough for James and Alex to swoop in to place her under arrest but not before they are forced to battle it out with a couple of goons she had on standby. Once they are defeated, the guards flee the scene, leaving Lyra behind so she’s arrested.
Lyra later explains to Winn that her art thefts have all been part of a plan to get back her little brother, who got in debt to some shady people in National City and the only way to retrieve him was to steal the art so his captor could sell it for profit. Despite her past lies, Winn once again believes her but J’onn and the others aren’t nearly as trusting.
So Winn takes matters into his own hands.
He breaks Lyra out of the DEO holding cell and offers to help her make the exchange in order to retrieve her brother.
After arriving, the exchange goes down with the buyer as another alien, who runs and underground circuit of stolen artwork. There’s only one problem — the Van Gogh was a fake.
From out of nowhere, James appears as the Guardian and a few moments later Alex and an entire garrison of DEO soldiers show up to save the day. It seems Winn set this all up in order to help retrieve Lyra’s brother while also helping the DEO take down a major art smuggling ring at the same time.
Back at the DEO, Winn confronts Lyra, who confesses that she did have feelings for him despite first approaching him as a con. The two of them kiss and Maggie lets Winn off with a warning since he did help track down the art thief, who is now locked in jail. Of course, Lyra seemingly goes free, which is an interesting twist considering she actually stole the painting regardless of the outcome.
Either way, Winn probably has his girlfriend back although they’ve got a lot of trust issues to work through now.
Prince of the Universe
The revelation that Mon-El is a prince doesn’t leave Kara as shaken as the fact that he’s been lying to her for months, even during the start of their relationship. While Kara is still seething with anger, she tamps it down when Rhea arrives at the DEO to have a conversation with her son’s new girlfriend.
Rhea explains that Daxam is now a wasteland thanks to Krypton — and even Kara agrees with that assessment — but now she wants to rebuild her planet and they need Mon-El to return home with them. It seems many Daxamites escaped the day when Krypton exploded and laid waste to their planet and now Rhea and Lar Gand want to bring everybody back home again so Daxam can rise from the ashes.
Rhea knows that Mon-El’s place is by her side, but she needs Kara to convince him to come talk to her.
Mon-El finally concedes to a conversation with his parents and it’s there he explains that he’s no longer the same person he was when they left Daxam. On the day the planet was bombarded, he left a girl he just slept with in his bed, where she undoubtedly died, and he fled in a ship while his people were being killed all around him. Mon-El grew to hate himself but coming to Earth helped him find a new path so he no longer wants his old life back.
He asks for his parents to send him back home and Mon-El’s father caters to his wishes, but this situation is definitely far from over. It’s not likely the Daxam royal family is just going to hand over the future of their world to the people of Earth so willingly.
Back on Earth, Mon-El shows up at Kara’s apartment with an explanation, an apology and even a declaration of love.
“My name is Mon-El. I’m the former Prince of Daxam. And I was a spoiled, useless person, but I didn’t know until I met you. I love being a hero because it means I get to spend every single day by your side. I love the way you’re honest to a fault. And the way that you fight for those you care for. And I love you. With everything that I have, I love you. You’re so special. … I’m sorry for [lying to you.] You’re right, I’m a liar, and I really hope you can still see the good in me. Please.”
Kara then asks if Mon-El would have ever told her the truth to which he responds with ‘I don’t know’ and that’s all she needs to hear. Kara puts an end to their relationship and asks Mon-El to leave her apartment. Mon-El being a self-absorbed prince on a rival planet would have been a lot to endure, but the fact that he lied to her and then admitted he may have never told the truth unless he was busted is enough for Kara to know she can’t trust him anymore.
Mon-El wanted so desperately for his relationship with Kara to be like one of those romantic comedies he enjoys so much. Now it appears he’ll have to learn to love a tragedy instead.
Cue the Maestro
The next day at the DEO, Winn gives Kara a present — an inter-dimensional device that will allow her to travel between worlds — just when a very special prisoner arrives for transport.
The prisoner is the Music Meister and he didn’t just get captured — he allowed himself to be caught so he could have an encounter with Supergirl. A moment later, the Music Meister hypnotizes Supergirl before putting her into a mesmerized coma before he uses the device to open up a portal so he can track down ‘the fastest man alive’.
The Music Meister exits through the portal while Kara collapses into Mon-El’s arms.
A few seconds later, Kara awakens in a dream like state, dressed in a luxurious gown and told that it’s time for her to go on. Kara walks through a backstage area before facing a crowd in a nightclub where everybody is waiting for her to sing. What the hell is happening here?
Kara has just been drawn into an alternate dimension where she will soon be joined by her old friend Barry Allen during Tuesday night’s episode of ‘The Flash’ where they will do battle with the Music Meister.
