Supergirl has been renewed for season 2 but the show will be leaving CBS and instead joining other DC series on The CW….
It’s been a long time coming but Supergirl has finally been renewed for season 2 but there’s a twist.
The show will move from CBS to sister network The CW, where the series will join other DC based shows such as Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
The long rumored move was finally made official on Thursday.
There have been talks for weeks that Supergirl was in a bind whether or not the series would be renewed or not at CBS after a solid freshman season on the network. The option was then presented to move Supergirl to the CW, which already has an extremely friendly audience for these types of superhero led projects with the success of Arrow and then The Flash.
The show will undergo some cost cutting to fit Supergirl into a budget that makes it fit better into the CW mold, but the series is definitely returning for a second season later this year.
There’s no word yet on the total number of episodes for Supergirl season 2, but the show is expected to return in the fall following the first season finale just a few weeks ago.
