The feeding frenzy for superhero shows on television continues with CBS now getting in the game as well with Supergirl…
It was just days ago when word leaked out that Greg Berlanti was working on a script and series based around Superman’s cousin, Supergirl to bring to television. Now the show has a full season commitment pick up courtesy of CBS.
The network has secured the rights to Supergirl and will pay for an entire season order — whether the show is a hit or not — as they get in the superhero business along with all the other network stations.
ABC currently has ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and ‘Agent Carter’ (debuts this winter), NBC is getting ready to roll out ‘Constantine’ while FOX has the highly anticipated Batman prequel ‘Gotham’ coming this Monday. Now CBS is getting the business with their adaptation of Supergirl.
The last time Supergirl was seen on the small screen was in the CW series ‘Smallville’ where she joined her cousin Clark in that Superman prequel. Now she’ll have her own series — joining Agent Carter as the two female led superhero shows on television.
