“The Boys” has added three new faces to the cast for season 3 with a trio of original supes joining the series, which is currently in production…
The cast for “The Boys” season 3 is expanded again with three new supes joining the ranks of the Amazon Prime series.
Sean Patrick Flanery, Nick Wechsler, and Miles Gaston Villanueva are all joining the series while playing a trio of completely new and original supes never before seen in the comic books.
Flanery — best known for his past roles in films such as “The Boondock Saints” as well as appearances on TV series such as “Dexter” — will be playing Gunpowder, a supe who sounds like an explosion just waiting to happen.
Villaneuva — who previously appeared on “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” — will be portraying Supersonic with rumors swirling that he’ll be playing an ex-boyfriend to Erin Moriarty’s Starlight. There’s also rumors that Supersonic is another super powered speedster much like A-Train, who was fighting for his job with The Seven for much of “The Boys” season 2.
Wechsler — who previously appeared on the series “Revenge” — will be playing Blue Hawk but there’s not much known about that character.
Truth be told, none of the new supes being added to “The Boys” season 3 have appeared in the original comic books written by Garth Ennis so these are totally original creations made specifically for the show.
It’s also possible that at least one or more of the new characters being added could be part of the superhero team called Payback, which is where Jensen Ackle’s Soldier Boy served long before The Seven was the most well known team under the Vought umbrella.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has already teased that there would be flashbacks and a bit of a history lesson happening during “The Boys” season 3, which would revolve around Soldier Boy, who was the first iconic superhero produced by Vought long before Homelander was everybody’s favorite. It’s entirely possibly that one or more of these new supes will be appearing during those moments when Soldier Boy was leading Payback.
Oh and one more reminder — “The Boys” season 3 will tackle the infamous “Herogasm” storyline from the comics, which is where all of the supes gather from around the world for one debauchery filled weekend of sex and drugs so it’s possible these new characters could pop up there as well.
“The Boys” season 3 is currently in production but there’s no debut date yet for the series to return on Amazon Prime.
