The first full trailer for ‘The Defenders’ has arrived ahead of the series debut on August 18 on Netflix…
New York is under attack and it’s going to take a group of heroes teaming up together to stop the greatest threat the city has ever faced.
That’s where ‘The Defenders’ come in as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all join together to go up against a new villain played by Sigourney Weaver, who appears to be affiliated with the deadly Hand, who are still looming large as this show gets underway.
The new trailer for ‘The Defenders’ debuted on Wednesday with a much deeper look into the eight-episode special event series bringing together all four of the Marvel superheroes series together.
There are plenty of Easter eggs planted throughout the trailer linking back to each individual show plus a look at how the heroes come together in the first place.
It appears Jessica Jones is back on the private investigator beat when she runs afoul of an investigation being run by Detective Misty Knight but thankfully she has an attorney looking out for her when Matthew Murdock shows up to represent her. Of course, Jessica has no idea who Matt Murdock is much less that he’s also the devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
Meanwhile, Claire Temple takes it upon herself to introduce her boyfriend Luke Cage to Danny Rand aka Iron Fist as they are both trying to protect New York in their own unique ways.
As the team gets assembled we also see Elektra for the first time as she has been brought back to life by the Hand after her body was stolen at the end of ‘Daredevil’ season 2 and placed into their resurrection chamber. Clearly, Elektra isn’t her old self because she’s seen going toe-to-toe with Daredevil in the trailer.
And finally we get a glimpse of Sigourney Weaver as the big bad this season while we still await details on what kind of character she’ll be playing. By all accounts it appears the Hand will once again be the main opposition during ‘The Defenders’ after causing havoc in the most recent season of ‘Daredevil’ as well as ‘Iron Fist’.
We also see Stick — Matt Murdock’s trainer — back in the fray as well as he tries to unite this team together against a common enemy.
And the soundtrack is provided by “Come As You Are” by Nirvana
Get ready for ‘The Defenders’ when the first season debuts on Netflix on August 18.
