Two iconic characters from the DC Universe are joining ‘The Flash’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’…..
While Zack Snyder is building the DC Universe on film with his series of movies focusing on characters from the Justice League, the CW is handling the television side of things with an ever growing universe of shows on the network.
Following the success on ‘Arrow’, the CW launched ‘The Flash’ last television season to rave reviews and the series will be growing even bigger this year.
For season 2, ‘The Flash’ has just cast another iconic character from the scarlet speedster’s history as Wally West will join the show this year.
Australian actor Keiynan Lonsdale — best known for his role in ‘Insurgent’ — has been tapped to play Wally West in the upcoming season of ‘The Flash’.
Wally West originated as the nephew of Barry Allen’s girlfriend before eventually adopting the Kid Flash persona with the Teen Titans. Eventually, Wally also took up the mantle of being The Flash as well. How he’ll be introduced to the TV series remains to be seen, but Lonsdale has signed on as a series regular for season 2 so he’ll be a major player this year.
Also this week, the upcoming Arrow/Flash spinoff series ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ added another major character to their story as well with Hawkman officially joining the team.
Falk Hentschel — best known for roles in ‘White House Down’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will play Hawkman in the new series from the CW.
Hawkman aka Carter Hall is best known throughout the DC Universe as a cursed Egyptian prince who is killed and reincarnated in present day along with the love of his life, Shiera Sanders aka Hawkgirl In ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, Hawkgirl is named Kendra Saunders, but her backstory is similar to the one created in the Hawkman mythos.
Hentschel will play Hawkman in the upcoming series expected to debut on the CW in 2016.
