So you remember our mysterious guest from the end of last week’s show, right? Yeah well it turns out that it is Jay Garrick! He explains how Barry’s singularity event brought him through a portal, but not his powers, and he wants to help the team. Everyone is skeptical at first, especially Barry, so they put him through some tests to check if he has the “stuff” to be a flash.
Jay goes through a quick, but complicated, explanation about how he is from another world. He basically says that he is the Barry of his world. Dr. Stein begins to explain how, if, there is a multiple universe it that they all would have a doppelganger, though not exactly the same. Surprisingly Papa Joe is the only one who has no clue what anyone is saying, so he takes off. It did sound very sciency and complicated.
Joe heads to the precinct and after ignoring his phone, gets a surprise in the form of a new officer. Officer Patty Spivott wants to join Joe’s Anti- Meta- Human task force. No matter how much Patty pushes, Joe is dead set against it.
After locking Jay up, as a safety precaution, Barry gets a fire call.
He puts out the fire, fairly easily I might say, and then is attacked by a sand man type thing. He charges through the guy and takes off. Soon after, the forensic scientist Barry, examines the crime scene. Luckily, because Papa Joe and Barry find nothing, Officer Patty is there and she found some evidence. After taking the boys over to show them what she found, Joe leaves in a huff, but not before whispering to her, “the answer is still no”. As Jay is running through some more tests, Iris and Caitlyn admire his “oxygen levels” while the boys try to figure out what the substance is. How it is Iris is always there? It doesn’t matter where they are, she is there…
Jay walks in and begins to explain that it’s- well- it’s, aww hell, it’s some complicated sciency thing. He also explains that the meta(Sand-Demon) was sent by Zoom. He is quickly interrupted by Cisco after giving the MH a name. We all know it’s his job to name the metas. Barry then jumps in and is upset that Jay is here with them instead of his cell. Iris pulls Barry aside to “talk” to him. She eventually breaks down the wall, and Barry lets Jay in.
Dr. Stein and Cisco have a nerdy moment after Stein pretty much discovers that their theory is correct. After Stein leaves to get something, Cisco tries to examine the meta-human cells, but he has a vision of Barry’s first encounter with him.
Papa Joe has a lead on the meta, Eddie Slick, so he calls Barry to help. Before he can give all the info, Slick runs. Joe gives chase, only to find that Officer Patty already has Slick down at gun point. After some interrogation, and phone calls to confirm, Slick is set free. For some reason though, he comes right back. Joe confronts him but soon finds out, by a gigantic sand fist, that it is actually the Sand-Demon. He knocks out Joe, and abducts Patty.
Jay explains the way to beat SD is with lightning. So he and Barry go to practice, and the rest of the team try to pinpoint where SD could be. They have no luck, so Cisco goes out the door saying he has an idea. After going into the basement, he uses his power and sees Patty interact with SD. Dr. Stein comes into the room, but Cisco just ignores his questions and says he figured it out.
Barry seems to be struggling with the accuracy of his throws, so he and Jay have a heart-to-heart chat. Barry explains how he was burned by Wells, and Jay basically says, well, I’m not him, so get over it. Cisco rushes in and explains that he found them. Barry asks for Jay’s help to stop SD.
Jay is sent in to distract SD, once he is far enough away Barry goes in and saves her, kind of. The concussion bomb goes off, sending everyone, except SD to the ground. SD now feels like he has the upper hand, but Barry tries his new trick and this time he hits the target, turning SD to glass. The glass SD falls to the ground and shatters. Patty calls out to the Flash, and we get a glimpse of one of the most iconic Flash comic covers. Both Flash’s, one on each side of a wall running to save the girl. It’s really cool
Caitlyn and Jay have a heart-to-heart about how things have changed for Jay. Then Barry and Jay talk about Zoom. Jay knows of him, but not his true identity, just the fact that Zoom is very dangerous. He wants to kill all other Flash’s, so he can be the only one.
Papa Joe confronts Patty about why she “really” wants to join the task force, and she divulges that her father was killed by one of the bad guys who now have powers. She wants to make it safe for everyone else. Joe tells Patty that she is in as he heads out the door. Just as he begins to head upstairs, a woman steps forward. He is stunned to see, Iris’s mom.
Dr. Stein confronts Cisco about earlier. Cisco explains to him that he’s kind of has powers. He then makes Stein promise that he won’t tell anyone. So the two of them talk to the team about their findings instead. Stein goes on to say that they have discovered 52 breaches, yes 52!
As Stein is explaining what is going on, he passes out. The scene then cuts to a woman giving a tour to a class of kids at Star labs. A few minutes into it, she gets very excited. Coming out of the elevator is none other than the savior, her words not mine, is Harrison Wells!
Next weeks preview: Captain Cold returns, and he brings along his daddy.
