It’s not exactly a novel concept for video games to come to life in movie form, but for 2013 favorite ‘The Last of Us’ it makes all the sense in the world.
The title from Naughty Dog was critically hailed as one of the best games of the year with rich storytelling and well developed characters, and now Screen Gems has taken on the responsibility of adapting the game into a movie.
Sam Raimi will act as a producer on the project along with Neil Druckmann, who was the creative director behind the game’s development and now will write the script for the upcoming film.
For those not in the know — ‘The Last of Us’ follows a pair of survivors — Joel and Ellie — as they attempt to navigate a world ravaged by a disease that has turned most of humanity into zombie like creatures as they rush to a survival site where Ellie may hold the key to humanity’s continued existence.
