Avengers: Infinity War is just over a week away from release and we’re just now learning of an award winning actress who is part of the cast….
Avengers: Infinity War is the most ambitious film that Marvel has put together since launching their shared universe back in 2008.
The cast list for the movie reads like a who’s who of ‘A’ list talent and it turns out some award winning actors are just now being revealed as part of the film.
Carrie Coon — best known for her roles on The Leftovers and Fargo — will be playing a crucial villain role in Avengers: Infinity War as it was just announced by co-director/writer Joe Russo this past week.
“Carrie Coon is Proxima Midnight,” Russo revealed in a recent interview with Radio Times.
Proxima Midnight is a key member of the Black Order — a group of aliens who have sworn allegiance to Thanos and serve him as he hunts for the Infinity stones. In the comics, Proxima Midnight is married to Corvus Glaive, who is another member of the Black Order, although there’s no telling if that relationship would carry into the movies.
Proxima Midnight is known as a fierce warrior who possesses heightened senses and super powers including super speed, super strength, etc and her primary weapon is a spear crafted out of a star that was given to her by Thanos himself. The spear is not only a great weapon but it’s also highly poisonous to anybody who touches it.
There have been rumors that Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, who has been confirmed for a part in Avengers: Infinity War, may be voicing Corvus Glaive but that remains unconfirmed at this time.
Look for Coon as Proxima Midnight when Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters next week on April 27.
