Following a breakout first season of “The Mandalorian,” Jon Favreau has confirmed season 2 is coming in Fall 2020 along with a teaser for a new character…
For all the arguments about whether or not “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” closed out the original series of films in a satisfying way, there was far less discussion regarding the merits of “The Mandalorian” following the first season finale, which debuted this past Friday.
The series developed by writer/director Jon Favreau has received almost universal praise as a smart, unique take on the “Star Wars” universe without being tied directly to any of the original films. It didn’t take long for Disney to renew the series for season 2 but following the end of the first season, fans were already clamoring for more.
On the day the season finale of “The Mandalorian” debuted, Favreau revealed that season 2 is already in the works and will be released on Disney+ in Fall 2020. That keeps in line with the debut of the first season, which helped launch the Disney+ streaming service back in November.

Along with the announcement regarding the return date for “The Mandalorian” season 2, Favreau also posted a photo of what appears to be a new character joining the show next year.
The character is a Gamorrean, which “Star Wars” fans will likely recognize as the species that Jabba the Hutt used as guards for his palace during the events of “Return of the Jedi.”
Gamorreans are typically recognized as a lower evolved species with lesser intelligence, which is why many of them are hired as muscle for crime syndicates like the one previously operated by Jabba the Hutt.
At this time, Favreau hasn’t revealed much more about the new character he teased along with the announcement of “The Mandalorian” season 2 and it’s even possible that Mando and his companion baby Yoda could event take a trip to Gamorr, which is a planet on the Outer Rim and the home world of the Gamorreans.
It’s likely we’ll learn more about “The Mandalorian” season 2 once production starts in 2020 with the show set to return on Disney+ in the fall.
