Yvonne Craig — who is best remembered for her portrayal of Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl on the classic 1960’s Batman television series — has passed away at the age of 78.
Craig appeared in all 26 episodes during the third season of Batman while becoming one of the first female superheroes to ever be portrayed on television.
Craig also had roles in The Six Million Dollar Man, Mod Squad and also playing the green Orion Slave Girl who wanted to kill Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series.
According to a post on her personal website, Craig died from complications due to breast cancer and she is survived by her husband, her sister and nephews.
