‘The Punisher’ may have a new villain to face off with as Ben Barnes has been added to the Netflix series from Marvel Television…
When ‘The Punisher’ debuts on Netflix, he might be going up against a familiar enemy.
Ben Barnes — best known for his roles in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ as well as ‘Sons of Liberty — has been cast in a series regular role for the upcoming show ‘The Punisher’ from Marvel Television and Netflix.
Now there’s not much known about the role Barnes will play but the biggest rumor circulating right now is that he may be Bobby Saint — a character made famous in the 2004 film ‘The Punisher’ played by James Carpinello.
That’s just one possibility but it certainly seems like Barnes is being set up to play a villain opposite Jon Bernthal, who reprises his role as ‘The Punisher’ after first debuting as the character in ‘Daredevil’ season 2.
There’s no timeline when ‘The Punisher’ will debut on Netflix but with casting underway, production can’t be all that far behind. ‘Hannibal’ writer Steve Lightfoot will serve as show runner on the latest Marvel series to land at Netflix, joining ‘Daredevil’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Iron Fist’, ‘Luke Cage’ and the forthcoming ‘The Defenders’ miniseries.
