‘The Visit’ trailer has arrived from director M. Night Shyamalan following a seven year hiatus from the thriller/horror genre…
When ‘The Sixth Sense’ opened in 1999, just about anybody who saw the movie thought director M. Night Shyamalan was destined to be the next great director of thrillers and creepy horror films, but his dedication to ‘surprise’ endings got the best of him over the years.
While he did manage to turn in some pretty solid efforts with films like ‘Unbreakable’ and ‘Signs’, Shyamalan faced critical and commercial failures with ‘Lady in the Water’ and ‘The Happening’, which were his last ventures into the horror/thriller genre.
His last two movies — ‘After Earth’ and ‘The Last Airbender’ — also flopped at the box office so where Shyamalan would go next remained a mystery.
It seems he’s ready to return to his roots with his next film titled ‘The Visit’ which is set up as a found footage type scare fest about two young kids who go to stay with their grandparents for the weekend before finding out that things aren’t all that safe when staying with Grandma and Grandpa.
Check out the trailer below and see if you’re ready to give M. Night Shyamalan another shot or if he’s already worn out his welcome?
