The Walking Dead is officially a decade old as of 2013, so to celebrate creator Robert Kirkman and the folks at Image Comics are putting together a huge list of surprises for the comic book this year and it all kicks off at San Diego Comic Con.
As first announced at the Image Expo, The Walking Dead anniversary will kick into high gear in October with the start of a special 12-issue arc called “All Out War” that will be released bi-weekly. The first issue hits store shelves on Oct 9.
A special edition of The Walking Dead issue 1 will also come out in October, and for the first time ever the entire book will be in full color. In the past all issues of The Walking Dead have had color covers, but the issues themselves are always in black and white.
The colors will be handled by illustrator Dave Steward.
The Walking Dead will also feature a special print for Tyreese, which is the reprint of issues No. 7 where he made his first appearance. The character of Tyreese is expected to play a pivotal role in the new season of The Walking Dead airing on AMC, which also kicks off in October.
The special news for fans attending San Diego Comic Con are a new line of t-shirts where fans can choose their side in the upcoming all out war story arc.
The four t-shirts will be available exclusively at San Diego Comic Con 2013 before a general release to the public at a later date.
