‘The Walking Dead’ has added a brand new cast member to second half of season 5 but mums the word on who he’ll be playing…
Ross Marquand — a little known actor best known for a guest spot on AMC’s Mad Men — has landed a series regular role for ‘The Walking Dead’ in the back half of season 5.
Here’s where things get interesting…
AMC has been unwilling or isn’t ready to reveal the character who Marquand will be playing, which has led to massive speculation that he may be portraying Aaron — a famous character who first showed up in issue No. 67 of the comic book.
Aaron is a recruiter for the Alexandria Safe-Zone, which is an area where Rick and his group make it after heading north from Atlanta. Aaron is also a very prominent gay character in the comics and ‘Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman stated earlier this year that there was a plan to introduce him at some point during the series.
It seems the casting of Marquand plus the hints around the addition of ‘Aaron’ to the show makes all of this fit together.
Regardless of who he’s playing, Marquand will make his first appearance at some point in the second eight episodes of ‘The Walking Dead’ debuting on AMC on Sunday, February 8 at 9pm ET.
