Negan will haunt ‘The Walking Dead’ for more than a single season…
Comic book readers have known for quite some time that Negan’s arrival on ‘The Walking Dead’ would be the biggest obstacle that Rick Grimes and the other survivors have ever come up against.
Now we know for certain that Negan’s reign of terror will go far beyond season 7 and into season 8 after Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed that he will definitely be returning next year on ‘The Walking Dead’.
“I know that I’ll be around for season 8. I think we all know that,” Morgan told Howard Stern this week.
In ‘The Walking Dead’ comics, Negan is a character who first shows up in issue No. 100 and sticks around as the primary antagonist for the survivors for dozens of issues — far longer than any other villain in the history of the book.
It’s also noteworthy and possible SPOILER FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN’T READ THE COMIC TO STOP NOW IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW..
Negan is still alive in the comics so it’s possible that Jeffrey Dean Morgan could be a mainstay on the show for years to come although there are several characters who have survived in the original source material but are dead on the series. For instance, Andrea is still very much alive in the comics but the character was killed on ‘The Walking Dead’ TV series a couple of seasons ago.
In other words, there’s no telling what might happen with Negan on the show.
A few other news and notes that Morgan dropped during his interview with Howard Stern…
— He confirmed that they did Negan ‘kill shots’ for everybody in that line up to better hide the real people who got killed in the season 7 premiere.
— Morgan says that as graphic as Glenn and Abraham’s death’s were on the show, they actually went much worse during filming and that might be something ‘The Walking Dead’ releases on the season 7 DVD.
— Morgan admits that he messes with Andrew Lincoln on set because he stays in character in between takes so that ultimately results in better interactions between Negan and Rick.
— Morgan owns a candy store with ‘Ant-Man’ star Paul Rudd
