‘The Walking Dead’ is the most watched show on cable TV so it’s no surprise that the series was renewed on Sunday….
To no one’s surprise, ‘The Walking Dead’ has been renewed for season 8 before season 7 has even started.
The ultra popular zombie series on AMC has broken ratings records year after year after year and with season 7 about to start next Sunday, October 23, the show was officially picked up for another season on Sunday. The eight season debut will coincide with the 100th episode of ‘The Walking Dead’.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, more,” AMC president Charlie Collier wrote in a press release. “What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans.”
‘The Walking Dead’ has continuously been a ratings giant for AMC and that’s not expected to slow down with season 7, especially after introducing Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan in the finale last season.
Negan is best known to ‘The Walking Dead’ comic book readers as one of the most iconic characters from the entire series and a kind of bad guy that Rick Grimes and the other survivors have never experienced before and aren’t likely to run up against again.
The season 7 premiere of ‘The Walking Dead’ next Sunday will also answer the cliffhanger from last season — who did Negan bash to death with his barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat named Lucille?
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 debuts Sunday night and we will have full coverage including a season preview and episode recaps on Nerdcore Movement all season long.
