The Walking Dead Season 4 Finale Pulls in Over 15 Million Viewers on Sunday Night

The Walking Dead is a ratings freight train that nobody can slow down because the latest season finale pulled in more than 15 million viewers during the one-hour broadcast on Sunday night…

The Walking Dead season 4 ended on Sunday night with Rick and his group finally reaching Terminus with less than stellar results once they met the actual people running the town, but plenty of people were curious how the show was going to conclude because a whopping 15.7 million viewers tuned in to watch the first run episode.

The 15.7 million average viewers represents a huge boost from the season 3 finale, which drew 12.4 million last year. The finale also pulled in 10.2 million in the coveted 18-49 year old demographic, which is another staggering number for a cable series. The Walking Dead has routinely beat out network series in the 18-49 demographic, which is almost unheard of when pitting a cable series against a network show airing on ABC, NBC, CBS or FOX.

The Walking Dead managed to bet shows like the Big Bang Theory in the key demographic and even took down the NFL a couple of times during the season, while also stomping NBC’s Winter Olympic coverage when the two went head to head earlier this year.

The Walking Dead will return for season 5 in October on AMC.
