A couple of comic book favorites and another character are headed to ‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 and we’ve got all the details…
Every season ‘The Walking Dead’ manages to off a few characters and each new year brings the arrival of even more new people — season 6 debuting October 11 on AMC will be no different.
With the survivors now deeply embedded inside the Alexandria Safe Zone, Rick and his people are going to encounter even more townspeople — a couple of which are going to look very familiar to comic book readers.
First up is Heath — who was previously revealed when Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton) was cast in the part. Heath is a supply runner in Alexandria from the comic books and he’ll be carrying that same role on ‘The Walking Dead’ when season six picks up in October.
The next major character revealed is played by Merritt Wever, who was first revealed as joining the cast back at San Diego Comic Con although details about who she would be portraying haven’t been revealed until now.
Wever will be playing Dr. Denise Cloyd — another favorite from ‘The Walking Dead’ comic book series — who will be in a similar role on the show. Denise plays a major role in season 6 as the surgeon in town, who takes over for Pete after his death at the hands of Rick at the conclusion of season 5.
In the comics, Denise is romantically linked to Heath although there’s no word if that relationship will carry over to the show or not.
Finally, there’s Ethan Embry, who was revealed in ‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 trailer but according to show runner Scott Gimple his character named Carter is actually an amalgamation of several characters from the comic books all rolled into one. Carter obviously has issues with the way Rick is running Alexandria as we dig into season 6 so his conflict will be an interesting story to watch this year.
Carter apparently wears several different hats inside Alexandria so that’s why we haven’t met him until now but it appears he’ll have a major role this season.
‘The Walking Dead’ returns to AMC on Sunday night, October 11 at 9pm ET
