Show runner Scott Gimple gives a brief look ahead at The Walking Dead season 6 when he says the show will be re-invented once again…
Spoilers ahead….
‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 came to a close on Sunday night and as a reminder here are a few bullet point items of what happened.
— Rick killed Pete after Pete killed Deanna’s husband
— Morgan found his way to Daryl and Aaron before making it back to Alexandria
— The Wolves found pictures of Alexandria and appear to be headed to town
— Glenn nearly killed Nicholas but instead saved his life
— Father Gabriel tried to kill himself but failed
Following the finale, Talking Dead premiered for one final episode this season but unfortunately show runner Scott Gimple was unable to be in attendance so instead he sent a message along with a brief teaser about what’s ahead in season 6.
‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 will pick up production in just a few short works in Atlanta, Georgia with a premiere date in October on AMC. From the sound of things, Gimple and company have already put together a game plan for what’s coming up later this year and it seems there’s a new (old) threat looming on the horizon.
“Season 6 for a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat. At the start of our next season, that will change,” Gimple said. “I said the show reinvents itself every 8 episodes, and we’re doing it again, friendos.
“Now that these characters know they have what it takes to survive, what are they going to do with that power? How will they choose to live? Beyond answering those questions, we’re currently putting into motion some of our most ambitious stuff yet, and things are going to get very big, loud and scary.”
We already know The Wolves are lurking in the shadows about 50-miles outside of Alexandria so it won’t be long before they come knocking on the front gates asking to get in, but what else is coming for the survivors in season 6?
Will the zombies once again amass and become the overwhelming threat they were during the first two seasons?
The only way to know for sure is to watch when ‘The Walking Dead’ returns for season 6 in October.
