The Walking Dead spin off has received a 2 season order from AMC with a premiere date coming later this year….
The Walking Dead is an unstoppable juggernaut in TV ratings so it makes good sense why AMC has decided to order a spin-off series set in Los Angeles with a whole new cast taking on the zombie apocalypse.
AMC announced on Monday that the new Walking Dead series — with a title still pending — will debut with a six-episode first season and the show will premiere in late summer 2015.
A second season order has already been placed with that debuting at some time in 2016.
The new Walking Dead series stars Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dellane and Alycia Debnam Carey in the lead roles.
“We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC,” Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman said on Monday. “I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we’ve accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story. I’m very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven’t scratched the surface yet when it comes to ‘The Walking Dead.’”
Stay tuned for an exact date for the premiere of The Walking Dead spin-off as well as further updates on a title for the show once it’s announced in the coming weeks.
