With a director being chosen to helm Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’, now the casting process can begin and two famous British thespians are at the top of the wish list…
Marvel will move into the mystical when they bring ‘Doctor Strange’ to live on the big screen in a film adaptation of the comic book character who first appeared in the early 1960’s. A magician who wards off evil and mystical forces from Earth, Doctor Strange will be another Marvel push into movies with a lesser known and less popular character that many of the stalwarts such as Captain America or Iron Man.
Now with the movie officially moving forward, Marvel and Disney can begin the casting process, which starts right at the top of the heap looking for an actor to play Stephen Strange aka Doctor Strange.
While the final decision is far from happening, Deadline reports that Marvel’s wish list includes British actors Tom Hardy and Bendict Cumberbatch for the lead role.
Hardy is well known for his roles in films such as ‘Warrior’ and of course playing Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ while Cumberbatch comes from the BBC series ‘Sherlock’ as well as playing Khan in the big screen remake, ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’.
Doctor Strange will likely have a solid following with a stand alone film, not to mention the character should have a pretty major part in a third Avengers movie if the antagonist in that film ends up as Thanos, the Mad Titan hell bent on ruling over the Universe.
