Top 10 Villains in “Sons of Anarchy” History

From June Stahl and Damon Pope to Lee Toric and Hector Salazar, here’s a list compiling the top 10 villains in “Sons of Anarchy” history….

Throughout seven seasons of “Sons of Anarchy” there have been some vile and loathsome villains that have landed on the streets of Charming, California to challenge members of SAMCRO. From the first season when twisted ATF agent June Stahl first appeared all the way to season seven when August Marks was still looking for bloody revenge against the Sons, creator Kurt Sutter has managed to take the role of bad guy to a whole new level.

Now as the show gets ready to wrap up and only three episodes remain, we’ve compiled a list of the malevolent best of the best when it comes to the villains who have opposed the Sons of Anarchy over the course of the last seven years.

Just to lay the ground rules to this list — these are the villains who directly went against SAMCRO so that means Clay Morrow and his wife Gemma Teller-Morrow are not eligible but for argument sake they would likely land at No. 1 and No. 2 on the countdown. Which is which, is up to you to debate.

This top 10 is more like a “most wanted” list of the villains who have committed the biggest atrocities, murders and betrayal that the Sons have known over the last seven seasons. Some of the people on the list are supposed to be on the right side of the law, others decorate the outlaw lifestyle. Either way, they’ve been the people who have caused SAMCRO the most damage since the show first debuted in 2008.

Before we get to the top 10, let’s give a few honorable mentions away so nobody is completely forgotten. There’s Ernest Darby, leader of the Nords, who tried to take on SAMCRO throughout a couple of seasons as he attempted to peddle crystal meth to the good people of Charming. Ultimately, he saw the error of his white supremacist ways and actually teamed up with the Sons in season 6 so he’s not all bad. Laroy Wayne was an ally to the Sons for many years and really it’s not his fault Clay Morrow lied to the club and said that the One-Niners gunned him down, which then lead to Tig taking out a hit on Laroy.

There’s also former Assistant U.S. District Attorney Lincoln Potter, who tried to set up the Sons for drug running while using leverage against Juice, which eventually pushed him to the point of a suicide attempt. Can’t forget about The Mayans, who have been the main rival to the Sons throughout the series, but outside of a lot of head butting, the two factions haven’t spiraled out into complete war like what happened in the early 1990’s before the show actually picks up. Marcus Alvarez has been a friend to the Sons as often as he’s been a enemy.

Who could forget Viktor Putlova, who was the Russian mobster that ordered a hit on Jax Teller in prison before he met his demise in the woods behind Opie’s wedding. Porn producer Georgie Caruso is responsible for the death of Luann Delaney, Otto’s wife. Jacob Hale wanted nothing more than to eradicate the Sons from Charming, but even he came around to serve the greater good at one point. A.J. Weston was as wicked as they came on Sons of Anarchy, especially with his violation against Gemma, but he was doing it on orders and his boss absolutely lands on the top 10 list. There was the Lobo gang, who tried to take out all of the Sons for working with the Galindo cartel and took out Kozik in the process. Also an honorable mention to Agent Joshua Kohn — he was only around for a slice of season one, but he still remains one of the creepiest bastards to ever haunt the Sons of Anarchy.

Now that we’ve gone through the folks that didn’t quite make the top 10, let’s dig into our list. Each villain contains a name and a list of the crimes they committed on the show that directly impacted the club. Here are the top 10 big bads in Sons of Anarchy history.

10. Hector Salazar

Ran the crew that conducted the drive by shooting at Half Sack’s funeral and killed Deputy Chief David Hale

Kidnapped Tara Knowles and her boss Margaret Murphy

Jumped Juice, beat him up and stole his cut

Kills the vice president of the Grim Bastards, a brother organization to the Sons

Attacks gym owner Lumpy and tries to start a war between the Sons and Mayans

Takes Mayor Jacob Hale hostage while also holding Tara hostage as well

 

9. Henry Lin

Chopped off Chucky’s fingers while holding him captive

Kidnaps Happy and holds him hostage

Orchestrates a bombing at the new Sons clubhouse

Murders 16 women at Diosa as payback to SAMCRO

Kills Orlin West, member of SAMCRO

 

8. Lee Toric

Beat up Otto Delaney in prison after he murdered Toric’s sister

Further tortured Delaney by having him raped daily in prison

Roughed up two members of the Byz-Lats, a companion crew run by Nero Padilla

Attempted to get Tara Knowles convicted of accessory to murder charges

Attempted to flip Clay Morrow in prison

Killed one of Nero’s prostitutes and then set him up to take the rap for the murder

Killed by Otto Delaney, but also got him shot and killed in the process

 

7. Cameron Hayes

Turns on the Sons and begins selling guns to their enemy, Ethan Zobelle

Kills Kip “Half Sack” Epps

Kidnaps Abel Teller, giving him up to friends in the IRA

 

6. August Marks

Kidnapped, tortured and killed Bobby Munson

Helped Damon Pope kill members of the One-Niners

Helped set up Tig Trager and his daughter to be killed

His hit squad kidnapped Ratboy and T.O. from the Grim Bastards

He’s not done yet so he could move up the list by the time the show is over

 

5. Ethen Zobelle

Ordered his gang to brutally rape and beat Gemma Teller

Starts production of meth labs around Charming

Set up the Sons when they came to a church to get him, they were arrested on gun charges and served 14 months in prison

Attempts to steal the Sons gun running business from them

Sets up a heroin trade with the Mayans that infringes on the Sons’ territory

 

4. Gaalen O’Shay

Worked for an orphanage that sold children

Kidnapped Jax’s ex-wife Wendy for ransom

Murdered Filthy Phil and V-Lin

Blew up SAMCRO’s clubhouse

Shot and killed a Chinese Triad member, wounded Henry Lin setting off a chain of events between the Chinese and the Sons

Orchestrated Clay Morrow’s escape from jail, which resulted in at least one dead sheriff

 

3. Jimmy O’Phelan

Banished Chibs from the IRA and kicked him out of Ireland while taking his wife and daughter for his own

Responsible for the “Glasgow smile” on Chibs’ face

Tries to eliminate the Sons from good favor with the IRA

Blows up a gun shipment in Ireland, killing several Sons of Anarchy members

Kidnaps Abel Teller and exchanges him for Father Kellan Ashby

Murders Father Kellan Ashby

Kills Sean and Michael Casey, friends to the cause and protégés of Father Kellan Ashby

 

2. Damon Pope

Burned Tig Trager’s daughter Dawn alive while her father watched

Framed Jax, Chibs and Tig for the killing of his daughter, Veronica Pope

Ordered the murder of club member Opie Winston

Attempted murder of Tig Trager

Put a million dollar hit out on Clay Morrow for his “murder”

Dismantled the One-Niners and had leader LaRoy Wayne slaughtered

 

1. June Stahl

Set up Opie Winston to appear to rat on his club to the ATF

Subsequently Opie’s wife Donna Winston was murdered

Attempted to set up and turn Otto Delaney, arrested his wife Luann as part of the plan

Put Bobby Munson in jail for 3 weeks

Nearly flips Chibs against the club

Framed Gemma for the murders of Polly Zobelle and Edmond Hayes thus setting up a war with the Irish

In retaliation, Cameron Hayes killed Half-Sack and kidnapped Jax’s son Abel

Killed her partner Agent Tyler

Tries to “out” Jax as a rat after making a deal with the SAMCRO vice president, believing it will get him killed
