The first trailer for “Black Adam” has arrived as The Rock transforms into a God with limitless power who isn’t afraid to kill to get the job done…
The first look at “Black Adam” has arrived as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s longstanding passion project prepares to release in theaters on October 21.
In the comics, Black Adam was an Egyptian slave who was bestowed with god-like powers from the wizard Shazam but he was imprisoned for centuries after misusing those abilities. When he finally escaped captivity, Black Adam ended up doing battle with the wizard’s new chosen recipient Billy Batson, who was the new Shazam.
Over the years, Black Adam has transformed from a villain often compared as one of the few characters in DC Comics with powers comparable to Superman to an anti-hero who often teams up with many of the world’s greatest superheroes except there’s a ruthlessness to him unlike anybody else.
As the new trailer teases, Black Adam is more than willing to kill to get the job done — and he’s not the least bit morally compromised by the decision to tear an enemy apart if it means delivering his special brand of justice.
The upcoming film will also see the film debut of a new Justice Society of America, which will feature a number of recognizable characters from DC Comics history including Aldis Hodge as Hawkman as well as Pierce Brosnan taking on the role of Doctor Fate.
Here’s the official synopsis from Warner Bros. for the upcoming film:
“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”
